Unique methodology
Twice a year we award products with the Germany‘s Favourite. In doing so, we ensure the highest level of credibility with a transparent methodology and an evaluation process that focuses on end customers.
Process in detail
1. Registration process
In the first step, companies have the opportunity to submit their products or services via the registration tool. After the registration deadline, Statista will first check all product details for completeness.
All companies and agencies that properly submit a product or service from at least one of the six categories here on the website are eligible to participate. In addition to product images, information about the product and the participating company is required.
2. Expert suggestions
In order to be able to guarantee a professional assessment of the products, independent experts will additionally select products/services which are in direct competition with the registered products/services within the upcoming consumer survey.
3. Consumer survey
After the registration deadline, all data of the submitted/selected products will be prepared for the consumer survey. The readers of the Süddeutsche Zeitung print and digital as well as a representative customer panel are then called upon to evaluate the products in a qualified questionnaire according to the criteria of benefit, USP, quality, functionality, design, sustainability, recommendation and purchase intention.
These characteristics are queried within a 5-point scale and then transferred into an evaluation. The available data is extensively analysed and evaluated by Statista analysts. In order to promote the comprehensibility of the available data, the evaluated scores are converted into a school grading system. Only products/services with a minimum score of “GOOD” are awarded the title “Germany’s Favourite”.
All submitting companies receive a comprehensive Insight Report with detailed evaluations of their products, their category and the overall results from the consumer survey – regardless of whether the submitted products receive an award. Furthermore, the reports contain data on brand awareness and brand impression compared to competitors.
4. Awarding of the winners
The products rated “VERY GOOD” and “GOOD” are awarded the “Germany’s Favourite” seal of quality. In addition to the product name and brand, the Germany’s Favourite seal also contains the overall rating achieved and thus – when used in communication – provides transparent support for consumers’ purchasing decisions.
